Applied Teaching Practicum

The practicum focuses on the observation of lessons and classes at The New School for Music Study. Participants can expect to observe both individual and group instruction of a variety of levels, ages, and student types with a weekly focus on specific teaching elements. Individual intensive sessions with a mentor teacher will support the teaching practicum experience.

Each term includes 10 hours of guided observation, plus mentored teaching with evaluation.
